2 Yummy Chutney recipes for Idli/Dosa/Appams

Try these Delicious and Yummy Coconut Chutney Recipes that are easy to make with Readily available Ingredients.



Red Coconut Chutney 

Ingredients

Scraped Coconut - 1 Cup
Chilli Powder - 2-3 Tsp/Adjust as per taste
Salt - As per taste
2 Garlic pods
Pinch of Jeera 
Tamarind - Small piece
Mustard seeds
Curry leaves
Pinch of hing (Asafoetida)
Oil for tempering

Method :

1. In a Mixer Jar add Coconut, Chilli powder, garlic pods, Jeera, Salt, tamarind and grind it to a smooth paste with the help of some water. Check and adjust the salt and Chilli Powder.
Note : Add water gradually.
2. Heat a Tempering pan and add oil to it. Once the oil is heated add mustard seeds and let it splutter. Add curry leaves and hing and Immediately switch of the gas flame. Pour it in the chutney and cover the Chutney with a lid.
Note : Keep the gas flame low and do not allow the tempering to burn.
3. Now Heat the Chutney on low gas flame. 
Note : Just heat the Chutney and do not allow to boil. 


Green Chutney 

Ingredients

Scraped Coconut - 1 Cup
Green Chillies -  4-5/Adjust as per taste
Salt - As per taste
1/2 inch Ginger
Half lemon juice
Handful of Coriander leaves 
Mustard seeds
Curry leaves
Pinch of hing
Oil for tempering 

Method :

1. In a Mixer Jar add Coconut, Chopped Green Chillies, ginger, salt, lemon juice, coriander leaves and grind it to a smooth paste with the help of some water. Check and adjust the salt and Chillies as per taste. Make it a thin paste.
Note : Add water gradually.
2. Heat a tempering pan and add oil to it. Once the oil is heated add Mustard seeds and let it splutter. Add curry leaves and hing and immediately switch of the gas flame. Pour it in the chutney and cover the chutney with a lid.
Note : Keep the gas flame low and do not allow the tempering to burn.
